Largely self taught but with a fine art qualification from De Montfort University, I work with printmaking, painting (mostly oil) and drawing, though I often explore other media such as textiles and sculpture and exhibit locally and regionally. I am artist director and studio manager at English Bridge Studios in Shrewsbury; the studio is committed to making art and local artists more visible in our community.
I also run an after school art club at Morda Primary School, Oswestry, am an occasional Creative Practitioner for Meadow Arts, Ludlow, and an Arts Award Adviser for Discover – Silver, supporting the participation of young people in the arts with monthly sessions at the studios.
My work aims to express feelings and thoughts about my experience of life through observation and association, as well as the simple pleasures of composition and colour. The physical action of drawing, painting or making enables a deeper connection with and understanding of my subject, which is why I feel compelled to do it.
