I’m a mixed media textile artist and art educator based in Shropshire, creating work inspired by the landscapes, textures and small details of the natural world. My artwork begins outdoors: noticing wildflowers, tree shapes, shifting skies or the patterns found in my wonderfully untamed garden. Travel also feeds my imagination, from the temples of Angkor to the streets of Barcelona, but in recent years my inspiration has settled close to home. I sketch, doodle and gather visual fragments, developing them into layered mixed media pieces using Indian inks, watercolours, collage, printing, batik and free machine embroidery. I love starting with unpredictable media—inks, dyes, loose washes—and then building texture, detail and stitch to let the image evolve organically.
Teaching is a central part of my practice. I run twice weekly wellbeing art sessions for Headway Shropshire, where creativity becomes a gentle, mindful space for adults with acquired brain injury to explore, play and rebuild confidence. My workshops—at Jenna Blair Yoga Studio, ArtShack, Westhope College and community venues—are rooted in the same philosophy: no rules, no pressure, just curiosity, experimentation and the joy of making. Participants often arrive saying they “weren’t good at art at school,” but my sessions are designed to dissolve those barriers and help people reconnect with creativity in a supportive, playful environment.
At the heart of everything I do is a belief that creativity is for everyone. Art isn’t about perfect outcomes—it’s about noticing, exploring, combining materials in unexpected ways and discovering what emerges.
