Cherie Jerrard is a mixed-media artist based in Shrewsbury, creating figurative work that combines painting, drawing and collage.
Originally trained in fashion, Cherie spent ten years in London working as a designer and illustrator before returning to art through an MA in Illustration at Manchester School of Art. Her background in fashion illustration is still visible in the figures that inhabit her work, although these days she is much more interested in disrupting the polished line she once worked so hard to perfect.
Her paintings are built up in layers on wooden panels using paint, paper, drawing and collage. Influenced by street art, old paste-ups, peeling posters and weathered surfaces, she likes work to retain its accidents, history and imperfections.
