After studying painting, ceramics, embroidery and silkscreen printing at Dudley School of Art and the City of Leicester College of Education I spent many years working in education before painting full time.
Attending courses by David Tress gave me the confidence to exhibit. After a successful solo exhibition at The Artrix, Bromsgrove eight years ago my work was taken on by the Old Chapel Gallery in Pembridge, Herefordshire.
I paint landscapes because the possibilities are endless. There’s so much to observe and take pleasure in. I’m particularly interested in shape, texture and light and try to simplify the composition to emphasise these qualities. One of my favourite places to paint is Pembrokeshire, a place I return to over and over, never tiring of it.
Moving to Shrewsbury two years ago has been a very positive experience for me. Not only am I enjoying the challenge of painting new landscapes but I’m also so grateful for the welcome and friendship offered to me from so many artists.
