Riikka graduated with a degree in Handweaving and Textile Design in 1998 in Finland. Over the years she has experimented with different materials, methods and styles.
Making textiles 3-dimensional and exploring traditional Finnish rya rug weaving but giving it a modern interpretation. Riikka’s textile art has been exhibited widely in the last 30 years. This includes group exhibitions in Finland, Estonia, UK and Wales.
Solo exhibitions notably at The Bear Steps Gallery in Shrewsbury in 2015, The Culture Centre in Lapua 2015, her hometown in Finland, Ludlow Assembly Rooms, Newtown Library and performance art at The Night of the Arts in Helsinki, Finland.
