ONE CROW LEFT – artist | teacher | shamanic explorer | hedge witch

Kirsty is the Shrewsbury-based artist behind One Crow Left — a name that speaks to the solitary, searching nature of artistic discovery. Like a ritual mask, the name gives her the freedom to fully inhabit and express her creative identity while honouring the spiritual guides that shape her work.

Her practice bridges the tangible world with the realms of shamanic wisdom, weaving together nature, geometric forms, and the divine feminine. Working intuitively across multiple media — digital art, linocut, painting, pen, and bone — each piece emerges through a process of spiritual connection rather than conscious design. She describes her work as art from the inbetween: liminal, threshold-dwelling, drawn from the edges of things.

In 2023, Kirsty completed a year-long shamanic initiation with Ruth Cato in south Shropshire — a transformative immersion in the ancient practice of journeying between worlds, communing with spirit guides, and developing sacred ritual aligned with nature’s rhythms. For Kirsty, the initiation was a turning point: it cemented her place on the fringes of things and, in her own words, unleashed a creative tidal wave.

Her creative process draws on drum journeys, omen walks, and the deep folk meanings of local flora and fauna. Spirit guides — fox, crow, swan, octopus, spider — appear throughout her imagery, each carrying its own medicine and meaning. A majestic stag named Richard, the spirit of her drum, leads her on the inner journeys from which her work flows.

Since beginning to exhibit in 2024 — at studio events, art fairs, and at the Hive in Shrewsbury — Kirsty has found a warm community of fellow artists and spiritual practitioners walking alongside her.

She also hosts a monthly offering at Swan Hill Studios called the threshold circle, inviting others to discover their own creative voice through shamanic journeying.
