Easthope Studio is a small jewellery studio and shop in Shrewsbury, founded by Harriet Roberts-Marshall.
At the centre of the studio is glass, Italian Murano glass, melted over a flame and shaped by hand into flowers, fruit, beads and often unexpected things. Everything is made individually, no two pieces are quite the same. That’s rather the point.
The jewellery is designed as a collection of parts rather than fixed pieces. Charms can move between hoops, chains and cords, earrings can be worn as singles or pairs, old pieces can be added to rather than replaced. It’s an intentionally flexible way of making and wearing jewellery, buy what you need, change it when you fancy.
Alongside the main collections, Harriet uses leftover glass from the making process to create the studio’s Minimal Waste pieces, and regularly makes one-off experiments that begin at the torch without necessarily knowing exactly where they’ll end up.
Harriet is interested in traditional techniques without being overly reverential about it. Precious materials can still be fun. Jewellery can be well made without being terribly serious.
Everything is designed to be playful and as unique as the wearer.
Everything is designed and made from Harriet’s studio in Belle Vue and sold from Shrewsbury Market Hall, where visitors to SYOpen Studios will be able to see the materials, tools, experiments, sketches and gain a better understanding of her processes and inspiration.
