Artists work

I am a Shropshire based artist and printmaker on a learning adventure inspired by nature, colour and light.

Encouraged to pick up a pencil again some years ago by a wonderful local artist, I now enjoy working in a variety of different mediums. Most recently this has been exploring the possibilities of linocut relief printing – a wonderful mixture of design, process and surprise that produces a myriad of different outcomes. The existence of a wonderful community of linocut printmakers willing to swap tips and knowledge leads to constant development in my work.

I’m looking forward to spreading my ‘printing wings’ to encompass other printmaking techniques, and to continue to work in both pastel and paint aiming for a more unstructured result. I work closely with two great friends, Alison Stafford & Jenny Rainford, in a collaboration called Print, Pastel & Paint. Set up from an informal weekly gathering where we swap ideas and support each other, it is now a vehicle that enables us to both exhibit and run a comprehensive series of workshops. I am an active member of the Association of Animal Artists, currently serving as the association’s treasurer.
