Artists work

An experienced artist, mainly in watercolour, but with occasional forays into oils, pastel and acrylic. My interest in and love for wildlife and the simple pleasures of the natural world and landscape are the focus of my representational painting, drawing up my own years of wildlife and landscape photography for source material, as well as own sightings without the camera. My little studio is positioned on the edge of woodland at the end of the garden, affording me a view into the secret world of some of the wildlife I portray in my work. I have original work, prints and greetings cards to view/buy.

I like to show people my painting process, laying down layers of pigment onto sometimes wet, other times dry paper and getting excited at the stage of adding fine detail to really capture the character of the wildlife I see in the quiet countryside. My landscape scenes are chiefly inspired by the dramatic, harsh mountainous landscape of Snowdonia; a favourite ‘get away from it all’ location and one that’s important to me following double lung transplant. Sales of my work help support the NHS who provide such great care to me.

House is about 3.5 miles from Shrewsbury town centre, set directly on the roadside, with off-road parking on our drive. Studio is at the end of the garden (so no steps, apart from shallow step onto the decking).
