Artists work

Originally from Delft in The Netherlands, I have lived in my adopted home of Shrewsbury since the age of 14. I love my mountain bike, a hilltop view and of course, my camera. ​ Having loved photos and photography since childhood, I spent every summer holiday leafing through my grandparents’ collections of photo albums.

When I moved to England, these photographs became even more poignant as they were my way of holding onto those precious moments. ​ To me a great photograph tells a story about its subject, capturing emotion and genuine moments. The key is to be comfortable, which is hard straight away but its my job to help you get there! ​

I started off in Street Photography, and with a love of black and white. I photographed street life in London, Paris, Birmingham and of course Shrewsbury. I then exhibited the collection in the Shrewsbury Coffeehouse, as well as The Bear Steps Gallery. Soon I moved on to reportage and documentary style portraiture before progressing into Wedding Photography. ​

I now have a joint venture alongside all my other photography called Zoutman & Hansen. Working with my talented makeup and special effects partner we now offer makeovers of a different kind. Creative photoshoots with that something special. These will be featured in our regular column in My Shrewsbury Magazine from Septemeber called – Zoutman & Hansen.
