Gill enjoys cycling and walking locally, in the beautiful Shropshire hills and the landscape and scenery is the main source of inspiration for her art work. Photos and preliminary sketches are used as starting points and these may be developed into figurative or abstract art work.
Currently she is using acrylic paints on boards or canvases, whereby she creates layers of paint that is rubbed and scratched into, to reveal interesting surfaces that lie beneath. However, she also enjoys using other drawing and painting media and is constantly experimenting with new techniques to create different effects.
Gill’s textile work involves paper or fabric which is dyed or printed first and then stitched over with either hand or machine embroidery, to produce pattern and texture.
During the last few years, Gill has been successful in exhibiting at various venues in the UK and these have included the Royal Birmingham Society of Arts (RBSA), The Footprint Gallery, Ironbridge, The Guildhall, Much Wenlock and The Museum of Modern Art, Machynlleth.
