Artist statement: My practice focuses on exploring the role of the artist revealing truths, through notions of shifting borders, boundaries and thresholds; the human communicated through the mundane and the beautiful, presented as film, photography and installation.
Drawing on personal experience of displacement across the north /south as well as east and west divides of England, my investigations into the formation of human identity, reference place, culture, heritage and migration. The abject is considered in terms of reality and façade, inclusion and otherness, evolutionary development and the unquantifiable sublime.
